Pandora

Another piece from my Myths & Mermaids show at Pop Gallery Orlando at Downtown Disney, Pandora is a new painting based on the "Pandora's Box" myth. In my interpretation, she has already opened the box and behind her is a scene inspired by medieval monsters and demons along the lines of Hieronymus Bosch, Bruegel, and Huys (representing the evils of humanity released from the box). Amidst all the chaos, the last critter out of the box is "Hope" - which I have chosen to represent as a glowing butterfly. The butterfly and the innocence of Pandora's soulful dark eyes make this a painting of hope, despite the evils of the world. The original painting herself sold at the show, but I have prints, posters & other merchandise available! My original acrylic painting. Prints available at http://www.zazzle.com/strangeling* and http://www.strangeling.com
