This was a sketch cover that I did for Action Comics #18 (2013) while I was at the Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con. The drawing that I did depicts Superman from the recent Man of Steel film by Zack Snyder. I think it turned out pretty well having done it rather quickly at the convention. I started with a quick pencil sketch and then moved onto inking the piece. I used Staedtler Mars Pigment Liners (which are a little more expensive than micron pens, but definitely well worth it) to ink, and this is where most of the detail was added. I then used Prismacolor cool gray markers to add shadows and midtones, and to help shape the form of the body. Prismacolor markers were also used to color the cape and shield, while I used washes of watercolor to add color to the body, hands, and face. For the white highlights I used liquitex acrylic white paint with a brush. I thoroughly enjoyed working on this piece.
