Folk Art Wooden Bird Carving

I spotted one of these in the back yard the other day, kidding, just kidding. But I did see one in a dream. I dream in Folk Art mode on occasion.

Have any John dubiel carvings? I will go as high as a $1,000 for one of his white doves. My understanding is that he only carved about eighty birds, all shorebird decoys and that was more than thirty years ago. I understand he severely hurt his carving hand back then. He was totally self-taught and used a simple knife. He also carved little folk art birds that he made from wood leftovers that he had when doing the decoys.. l know three of the little birds, just a few inches long went for $450 just a few weeks ago at a New York auctions house. His mother was totally self-taught and turned out to be a world class artist who became one of the great ones specializing in depicting elements inside her paintings extremely small, in watercolor yet!
