Artist comment: "This painting with pastel on Canson Mi-Teintes paper was a study in black and white with grey tones. The kite is about 9 feet in diameter and made of ripstop nylon; making it light weight and strong. As the early morning fog lingered over the ocean, I researched this interesting 'kite'. It always fascinates me when I go to kite festivals and I see all the new creative designs. I sketched the composition, then began with the sky, sea, and sand. I used several top brands of soft pastels with pastel pencils for details. The spider was the last thing. Great fun!"
