"Mighty River Tour" _______ *The Mighty River Tour is one that let us board a Paddlewheel Steamship. We were quite thrilled and excited and also a little bit apprehensive when we came to a part of the river that was known as "Dead Mans Land". This part is where a big fight battle had taken place during the great Indian uprising. Everyone aboard the great paddleboat was feeling the same at this point...weird. As we came around the bend in the river, we all could tell that this is where hundreds of men had been killed on the banks of this part of the river where we were slowly cruising past. You could feel that death had happened here. It was the eeriest feeling we had ever experienced just less than actually seeing the spirits of the dead. I remember this feeling as the same feeling I got traveling down the highway where the greatest civil war battle had taken place in Virginia. So many people sacrificed for a cause that was so wrong of pitting man against man. Wars have been fought for many reasons, but the logical truth about wars is...they're bloody brutal and stupid as hell...sit down and bet a hand of poker and see who wins...or who can toss 3 darts at a taget on a wall...closest to the center wins...and the unreal side of war is, you're supposed to learn from it...which people are still so ignorant of it's meaning...If you must fight, then fight...otherwise die, and what your belief was dies with you...and you changed nothing except to those that knew and loved you and are now left with an empty hole where you used to be, now you're in another hole...six feet straight down! A very very sad comentary, even upon itself.
