In our tribe, “MEN-SIP-OK” is a kind of a medicine woman who can cure spiritual illness that modern doctors cannot cure. For example, if a past ancestor came to visit any living family member he/she will be the one who will feel unexpected illness if his/her inner self will talk, respond or even just to notice this past ancestor and the illness will depend on how the ancestor died. The “MEN-SIP- OK” then can foresee the cause so she will perform a ritual, offering food and drink and communicating to the past ancestor begging to heal the sick patient. After a night the patient will recover without bringing him/her to the doctor. Until now, we still have “MEN-SIP-OK” around.
