This story about Hazrate Fatemeh's selsfelsness reminds me of the story of the time that Imam Hassan and Imam Hussein got sick when they were young. Imam Ali and Hazrate Fatemeh decided to make a nazr (promise) to fast for three days as soon as their children recovered. When Imam Hassan and Imam Hussein got better, the whole family fasted together. On the first day, as they were about to break their fast, someone knocked on their door and asked for food. They gave all of their food to that person, and broke their fast only with water. The same thing happened on the second and third days of their fasting, and they gave their food away willingly each time.
