This colourful painting shows the lavender fields and guest house at the Levande de Franschhoek about 45 minutes from Cape Town, South Africa. The rows of lavender provide an engulfing gentle array of lavender and blue as they cover the sides of the gentle hills as far as the eye can see. The Franschhoek area, settled by the Huguenots in the 1600's, is a beautiful area known for its great wines, fabulous French restaurants, and incredible beauty. Certainly the lavender fields are reminiscent of those in Provence, France. This wonderful impressionistic acrylic painting is alive with colour and exciting to view.
