This weird structure sits in the otherwise picturesque fishing village of St. Abb's not far from Berwick on the Scotland / England border. The sign says "Rabies! - don't import disease!". In the 70s Britain was gripped by a fear that rabid animals would get into the country from Europe - it had taken years to eradicate the disease and the country had been free of it for many years, so it wasn't ever going to be welcome. The sign is in perfect condition. The structure, supported by a single 20 foot rusting iron pillar, has maybe seen better days!
