"The cornflower is also known as bachelor buttons. They grow prolifically in home gardens or wide stretches of field and meadow. In pink, white, fuscia, and shades of blue, who wouldn't want such fancy buttons?"

Artist Comments: "On 140# hot-pressed watercolor paper, I painted a dark background, leaving white paper where I had sketched the flowers and leaves. I lightly painted in the leaves and greens of the buds. When it was dry, I layered a variety of blue values to shape the bachelor's buttons. I finished it by 'picking' out white highlights with a sharp tip of a razor blade."
