beautiful work John.I love owls too,I wondered, what is sugar paper?

Artist Reply: Hi Ruth Sugar paper is also known as construction paper. Originally it was a rough paper used for packaging sugar. It has a slightly toothed surface perfect for pencil, oil pastel and pastel. I use it mostly for sketching with pastel and sometimes for paintings in pastel if I am using a loose style. It is much cheaper than ‘designer’ pastel paper so you can work up you preliminary sketches without heavy cost. John
