Post Office Matador

This strange machine one of a small number produced for the GPO Green Fleet post-war was based on the 4×4 Matador chassis but with a dead front axle and shortened to make a tractor unit for the quite unique drop-frame trailer originally designed for the transport of cable drums. In my time with the Green Fleet in the early 1960s I only ever saw then loaded with ducting which the Post Office used to route underground cables though and is here seen being loaded with such at the windswept moorland factory of Hepworths, Penistone, Yorkshire. A painting like this of your favourite vehicle, British or American in acrylics on A3 heavyweight watercolour paper would cost £500. The original of this image on A3 size watercolour paper is FOR SALE at £500, please ring 07884462140. Please remember this image is my property and protected by International copyright law.
