The designer of this car clearly took his inspiration from the aviation of the time, the nose seemed to be copied from a DC 6. In the mid-1950s people in our village could count the car owners on one hand, but there was a car that completely overwhelmed me as a boy. The Studebaker with its airplane nose. It belonged to a chic lady who spoke French and always wore a hat, we called her "Madame Chapeau". She lived in a large white house on the outskirts of the village and looked down upon us village boys as we stared at her car. Image size: 260 x 360 mm

My Uncle bought the Studebaker Champion in. 1950. The four door version of this. It was designed by Raymond Loewy, who went on to pen the Studebaker Avant in 1962. Loewy also designed the. S1 locomotive for the Pennsylvania Railroad. The guy is an industrial design legend. Good memories here. Thanks.Linda Hammar 06 Sep 2020
Really a good watercolor with a personal history. The car does look like it's going to take flight. Amazing that one of those village boys grew up to be an artist re-creating a memory.Maria Anna Machado 05 Sep 2020
