Jul 2010 48 x 48" mixed media painting on stretched canvas The title, Resistance, comes from the art techniques of Process Painting, which are, resist painting, stain painting, layer painting, and poured paint painting. The silver acrylic paint film layer is one layers--over a yellow layer, and texture layer on the primed canvas. The silver acrylic paint acts as a resist to the watery liquid splashed on paint. The artist mixes much of her own paint from painting mediums and pigment. In this case, the artist mixed aluminum powder into an artist grade acrylic medium as the pigment binder, to create the silver paint used in this painting.
