Marie Kazalia is at work on a series of paintings in which the employs the techniques of Process Painting, which are, resist painting, stain painting, layering, and poured paint painting as the driving force within the concept. The artist mixes much of my own paint from painting mediums and pigment. To make the silver paint prevalent in this series, she mixed aluminum powder into an artist grade acrylic medium as the pigment binder. Layers on the surface of the paintings in this series are stain painting via a new approach--the watery paint stain dries on the surface paint film, rather than soak into the canvas. The stain layer of watery paint bleeds out to break from the confines of the hardedge forms abstracted from military camouflage patterns.
