these "pots" are pieces of water pipes I found, just enough to keep the lettice a little warmer.

Yummy! Jerry, can lettuce be transplanted? I have planted the seeds too close together and too much lettuce is coming up! I just hate to pull up the offenders to give room to the others and hope it can be transplanted... :-)

Artist Reply: Hi Julie, I am glad you are enjoying your container garden! Yes, lettice can be transplanted. I do it with a spoon or butter knife, trying to get a little dirt with the roots. You can see how close I plant mine in the pots from my photo. When harvesting I never pull the plants, I only cut some leaves off with a pair of sizzors and it will keep producing until it gets too hot. You can plant it again in the Fall.
