Cute!

This painting was made for an auction in aid of the Narva Children’s Orphanage and Refuge in London.
Trixi invited me to this event, for which I thank her very much! She is a wonderful friend!
If you'd be interested in this auction, info can be found on Trixi's page.
All participating artists had to use a specific letter of the alphabet in the title (mine is C) and a ladybug was required on the painting.

The simple joyful delights of life and spring, parent and child engrossed, "companionized" with this little gem of nature. How delicate! How deep! So far beyond usual critical analyses of art! Say objectifying their little three-dimensional moment -- I'd guess they actually fill 90 percent of the canvas. They are up front stage so near us that their hands begin to blur before our eyes, throwing our focus to the couple’s faces and the bright discovered star, the little lady with a stage all to herself. And I’ll bet that not any of us can keep their eyes from moving around and across the little triangle these three beings form. No thought by them, now, of a little home lost to fire, of children burning. Thus does the painting play upon the nursery-rhyme myth, probably in the backs of some of our minds. But I think the ladybug has yet no children; that she is as young and innocent still as the child, her human soul sister, who’s wearing even the same decorative colors in her hair. And how fortunate we all are, here, now, and for generations of children, their parents and springs to come -- forget not nature’s other creatures, too, both large and little -- how blessed we are to have this superb artistic creation here, and made by a sister member of this great and talented and striving group of ArtWanted colleagues. Now, it may take us an hour or two of viewing, of basking in this child's once-in-a-lifetime moment, and the mother's many once-in-a-parent's life’s moments with each of a child's discoveries, as a child replaces her innocent ignorance of this world with knowledge and experience. Probably we all need some time before our eyes can free themselves to wander around past and between the three stars -- no way possible without brushing against the perfect lady-bug ribbons almost tulips themselves, gracing each side of the darling child's natural dark red and comfortable hair. Don't forget to let the magnifying device lead your eyes around that face, created with such talent, and, as I am sure that each viewer already has thought, with an elation of love! -- for me, the lips and teeth, and eyes especially are the highlights of this painting devoid of "lows!" And suddenly, there, behind the little group, fresh daffodils, just emerging from green buds to yellow, their cool contrast functioning to emphasize even more the fore-fronting that the skillful artist has so subtly created. And how shyly they turn their heads in the other direction away from us, thus not to distract us viewers, or the little three-some, as if realizing and respecting their small moment of great discovery and renewal; of the delicate energy of life, no matter how small, or what shape, or what color it assumes for this stage in the universe, for its part of nature's own great coming forth. And HER great gift of Sprriiiing!!! Finally, I want to mention that the single tiny word of the title, "CUTE," becomes an ironic understatement of awesome proportions. For while all the details and the whole of the painting are literally “cute,” I believe that this beautiful and straight-forward appearing painting is quite capable of reviving thoughts and feelings from long ago, or even that we never consciously pondered before. Such considerations have been hinted above. And I believe without a hint of doubt, that this beautiful painting deserves a fine wall in a fine home, and eventually a wall in a fine museum. Thank you, Anneke, once again, for creating perpetual beauty for all our lives and the universe. Peace, etc., Bruce

Artist Reply: Dear Bruce, thanks to all these lovely words I become silent, happily enjoying what you wrote. Your wonderful review is so much appreciated and actually more beautiful than my work. You are not only a very talented artist with paint, but with words too. Hopefully we both can make the viewer happy. My painting framed by your brilliant comment. Thank you so much, my dear friend! :)
