Artist Comments: "The 'Catala" was a glamourous floating 'boatel' in her glory days. When I came upon her on the beach, listing at an angle, it seemed sad. Being inside and walking the corridors was an amazing experience. I felt disoriented and had a difficult time staying upright. I photographed her and did two paintings of the moment. One is the full boat (from the same angle), which is the property of the Timberland Regional Library in Washington state; the other is in my private collection."
