Melanie my Love

This is a painting of my beautiful wife Melanie. We got married on November 28th 2009. Special thanks to our wedding photographer Mark Bowers for his wonderful work, and for his willingness to let me post this painting without any hitches or conditions. I painted it by hand using photos from Melanie's Bridal photo session as my reference.

You may want to consider contrast in a composition like this. The shadowing effects on her face truly are not complementary though I am sure she must be beautiful. I presume you are painting over a photo, a technique you can try is to set it as a transparent layer above the canvas in Photoshop for post production refinements.

Artist Reply: It is all drawn by hand, not painting over a photo in any way though I did use a photo for reference obviously. Thanks for the feedback.
