Mandragora Triptych

High Gothic style with a contemporary lowbrow twist! Three paintings in one - a triptych! It features a gothic angel in the central panel cradling a Mandrake root. Mandrake roots are often spell components and have a lot of mythology & superstition surrounding them. They grow "limbs" that almost give them a human like aspect. On the left panel there is a lovely rooty mandrake, and on the right panel there is a creepy skeletal visage and a bottle gourd (the liqueur made from mandrake roots - Mandragora - is often sold in a bottle gourd). This is my own original acrylic painting. My husband Matt did the woodwork on the original. ©Jasmine Becket-Griffith - prints are available at http://www.strangeling.com and http://zazzle.com/strangeling*
