This beautiful dog Golda, and gracious woman, Sarah were having their last walk at their favourite spot, atHeritage Park, in Mission, BC. You see, Golda was 11 years old and suffered from cancer. This was Golda’s last walk. I had my camera on a tripod at the park, with 2 dogs. I offered to take their last portrait of them, if she minded. I asked Golda to kiss Sarah, and this is the result. I photographed them walking back to the car. I trembled as I captured them on camera. I cried all the way home. The loss was enormous for this lady. Later that evening, Golda’s vet came to her home, and she laid on her favorite pillow and was let go. Sarah and I connected in a way I cant explain. We embraced at the park, with so many tears. Tears for stranger, tears that stayed with me. I could feel her loss. We have stayed in contact by email, and she would like this image. For some reason I have hesitated.
