The Sacred Goods part two

An oil painting that lampoons art and American lifestyles that are exported to the rest of the world in the name of free trade, On On the left side of a painting I placed the School of Athens (Aristotle, Socrates, Plato), on the right side I placed a father and son of the fifties (a couple of yokels) admiring a can of oil. The painting is built on hinges so that it folds in the middle and becomes portable. Sort of a laptop, takehoma sack painting. On the "School of Athens" side of the painting by Raphael, I substitute Superman for Apollo and Batman for Dionysius. I also place modern figures in the roles of the old philosophers. It is a color by numbers version of the original painting which implies we are a superficial copycat civlization interested in only making pretty things that we can consume and throw away.
