About 40x 40 canvas. This is part of a painting I did several years ago. The original was considerably larger and was unceremoniously cut up into 4 separate paintings. It was painted in the time when depleated fish stocks first became a concern, and the image of "our land of plenty" was being replaced by a harsher reality. The paths of the Salmon and the Coastal Native Tribes have crossed countless times through the millennium as depicted by the salmon taking refuge from the current under the fallen Haida totem. Not only are the numbers of salmon dissapearing but also a culture and way of life that depended and respected the bounty of the salmon. They may be crossing paths for the last times. ----- Incidentally, the four pieces of this original were mounted on panels and are owned by people I know. Maybe some day they will be reunited for a show?
