Catch Me II

First ever water color - I didn't dilute b/c I didn't want to. It was fun - not sure if I like oil or watercolor better yet - I just know I am hooked on painting ~ lol. Please, I would appreciate any and all opinions/comments. Do you think this is more folk artsy?

i think this is a beautiful painting and the colors are darn right glorious. as to a choice between mediums its safest to say use what works. i primarily use watercolors but still paint in oils and sometimes acrylics. i love all three but have the greatest affinity for the watercolors. i love their transparency, their "lightness" and their immediate nature. i think if you were to continue painting in the manner of the above piece you would probably be better off using acrylics. they are an opaque medium at heart and lend themselves better to being applied as you have applied the paint here. i hope i have not overstepped any bounds in this comment.

The colour use is FANTASTIC, MJ... It seems like a lot of fun to do... it has a feel of a design to it. It look more like gouache, I must say. In watercolour, you have to mix it with water, to get transparencies. ANYWAY... Bravo... enjoy it.

Artist Reply: lol- I wanted to use a thicker paint. And the brushes are from the kids. I just felt like painting this weekend and once I started I couldn't stop. First was oil pastel, then oil and now watercolor...I think it is more like folk art ~ don't you?
