Cuna Indian

Sharon De Vore Gonzalez's Facebook profile This Cuna Indian from the San Blas Islands off the coast of Panama is selling molas. They make them to wear; layers of cloth created by reverse applique. When they found that they were marketable, they started making them to sell. The bands on her legs and wrists are beaded work, and now they sell them also. The women in the Cuna Society are the controllers and rulers. Hope that you enjoy!

Beautiful photo, I just love her rustic wares. Such skill, such designs! My parents went to Panama in 1973. For many of the indigenous people things do not change over time, and they still focus on the same traditional skills and way of life. A great photo, it would be wonderful for a geography book.

this is really good shot, thankyou so much for the info, its always interesting to understand how people live in other countries that are so far removed on how we live in western society. Its especially uplifting to read about such strong women.

Nice photo Sharon, Thanks for the historical embellishment on the subject matter. I personally think it's interesting learning about other cultures. And, what a sweet, pleasant face on the lady. I'm envious,I wish I were well off enough to be a world traveller.
