Mourning Dove

This little Dove blended into the landscape so well, I almost missed seeing her. They are named for their cooing, and live mostly in farmland, open woods, and semi-deserts. Their wings have black spots and are pink below. Both parents sit on the nest and feed the nestlings. Photo by Sharon Lee. Copyright 2009

The colors are amazing!

Artist Reply: She is very beautiful! I've never seen a dove upclose like this, so I didn't know they had spots and blues and blacks and chocolate! Thanks Johnnie, I just took the pic, she was already beautiful!
