For a small bird, martins have large expressive eyes...all the better for eating lots of mosquitos. UNT Lake, Denton, Texas

Beautiful bird in big trouble. Their population along with many other wetland birds is dropping like a bomb.

Artist Reply: that's sad... but at least there are martin "condo's" placed near a local community pond; my Dad used to build houses for them to nest in so we would have some help with mosquitos
