Abraham Lincoln (2009)

This is one of a series of four 20 x 20 inch paintings. This is, of course, Abraham Lincoln. He is shown in front of a rustic log cabin and his house in Springfield, Illinois. The cares of a war-torn nation are etched in his face, which radiates weary intelligence.

Hello David and Nicole! How are you both? We are now back in Wales for a while. Living in France for three months was a very inspirational and enjoyable experience. I see you have been busy recently, working on these fabulous portraits. I love this one. It's an excellent likeness and I like the intense, but steady gaze and the sensitive mouth of this great historical figure. I like too, the green underpainting showing through. It gives the portrait that 3 dimensional appearance and makes it very life like. Brilliant artwork!

one of your great portraits David, you are a master in this and love the background too! (wished I could make comments like you do, but I'm not so talented in words)

It's amazing how much personality you achieved to paint in this portrait! Very beautiful!
