Frankie

Frankie McWhortor moved to Lipscomb County Texas in 1963. He worked as a foreman for the Cooper Ranch from 1984 until retirement in 2002. Frankie passed away in early 2008. During his professional career as a Fiddle player Frankie toured with Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys for several years and also participated in recording sessions with Wills, the Miller Brothers, Hurschuel Clothier, the Coors Cowboy Band. Frankie also had several of his own bands including: "Frankie and the Westerners" and "Frankie McWhorter and the Over the Hill Gang." When playing for dances Frankie always drew a crowd. .
