Fancy Dancer

This is an oil painting I did from a photograph taken at a non-traditional pow-wow. The Archebishop of Guatemala was visiting here and was asked to pick between 4 paintings. He chose mine, as in his opinion, it truly depicted what Canada was about and it's people.

Gorgeous detailing in this superb piece. The dancer looks deep in thought. You really know how to capture a mood- the essence- as well as the technical skill of a subject. I also appreciate the attention to the background surrounding the fancy dancer- the contrast of sunlight dappled grass to the receding darkness.

Artist Reply: thank you so much for you wonderful comments Kathryn! I sometimes wonder if I work a piece too much, other times not enough! :)
