Portrait of Suzi Whiscas

The discovery of this wonderful painting struck as lightning among the established scholars of Ancient Cat Art worldwide, when an image of this rare piece was published in the local newspaper “Gloamen” in Northern Trondelag in Norway, July 2008. A local second hand dealer reported this “fortunate purchase” from an elderly disabled lady after being tiped off by a friend who noticed the painting in her modest and small appartement. The reason this piece became the subject of such serious interest, is the serendipitous fact that Nina Salamonsen at Baerum Costume Museum (Outside Oslo), recognized the dress on the painting while reading the local Newspaper from her home village (She had been given a one year subscription as a birthday present from her mother). The dress on the artwork was carrying embroidery of exactely the same style as a small dress in the collection. Mrs Salamonsen examined the dress from the collection and found a name tag attached on the inside. It carried the name Suzi Whiscas, hence attributing this piece to the urequited love of Felix Fiigenschou and henceforth exposing the secret of what she really looked like. Although there has been some speculations, we have until this paintig appeared, not encountered any verified portraits of the woman, who is believed to have been Fiigenschous lover during the turbulent months in Holland.
