Dresden: The Frauenkirche rebuilt (2008)

After its total destruction in 1945, Dresden rose from the ashes. The Frauenkirche was left as a pile of bricks, which my wife and I visited in 1981. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, a movement began to rebuilt the church, which was completed some years later. This is a contemporary picture of new downtown Dresden.

wow awesome painting...my fathers family is from Dresden, we just visited in '06, what a beautiful city. My cousin Trixi who is also on AW was born in Dresden.

Hello David! How's things? This is a beautiful rendering of the Frauenkirke. It looks so majestic. Last night we watched a Travelogue and they went to Dubrovnik and the reconstructed Mosta bridge. Rebuilt with the original stones that fell into the river after the Serbs blew it up! Your paintings of the Dalmation coast immediately came into my mind with their neat red roofs and villages bathed in mediterranean sunlight. Love it!
