The Cobbler

Diluted acrylics over pencil (10 x 14). Another try at figure work!! This one, also inspired by a newspaper article about the end of an era for craftsmen in the local town. As the old cobblers shop closed in Westport - a tribute to a dying breed and a comment on todays society where everything is considered disposable........

I feel sadness in this painting. Another chapter in a history book being closed only for those interested to be opened again and read. The detail is wonderful - I love this work of art!
