4 x 6 inches, watercolour, gouache and gold ink, 2008. This was a commission piece. The client liked one of my other Sebastian paintings and wanted a similiar piece. The previous painting he liked was an ACEO so I kept the figure and the sky similar but opened up the painting and revealed more of his body and the landscape in the background. I heightened the emotion of the piece with a more intense expression of sorrow on his face. The client was very happy with the finished painting.

Funny to see the different faces on card and painting. Is it not done to just resize a painting for a card? Mark, I think I would recognize your faces between all the aceo cards on AW right away, they are super special. :)Emily Reed 29 May 2008

Beautiful work, Mark.......i can see why the client was delighted. the beauty and sorrow on the face bring a lump to my throat................the halo puts me in mind of the Russian Iconic paintings and the naked torso reminds you that he was a man as well as the saint.Joanna Jungjohann 29 May 2008
