Women's Vision Exhibit Ft. Bragg, NC

I was not only extremely honored but thrilled to be asked to partcipate in this event: Women's Vision: A Glimpse Through Her Eyes, March 25th, 2008, located on Ft. Bragg in North Carolina. This event was organized in accordance with President George W. Bush's proclamation that March 2008 would be for Women's History Month. Showcasing the role that women have played in our American way of life-from front line action on the battlefield to 'behind the scene' roles-contributors from across the country had exhibits, information and artwork. To name a few: The National Women's History Museum, North Carolina Museum of Art, Fayetteville Museum of Art, North Carolina Museum of Art and Cumberland County Art Council. Seven artists, both local and in surrounding states, also partcipated. What a wide array of amazing talent! I had a hard time believing that I was showing my work with these amazing artists--their talent was truly aweing. This photo shows an award of recognition given by the XVIII Airborne Corps Commander. Thank you to all who came and participated in the events and exhibits. It truly would have not been the same without you. :)

Really nice work Kerra. I too love to draw military art....it's been a few years ago when I did limited edition prints for Fort Bragg and the museums. The SF work is definitly specialized and rare, Congratuations.

Congratulations Kerra! That's what being an artist is all about, isn't it?

Artist Reply: HI, Tom! Great to hear from you. :) I seem to be going in a gazillion directions at once! What are you working on as of now? I just started on some oil paintings--what a change from watercolor! I'm finding it amazing how quick you can throw down paint--as for me with watercolor, it takes SO much forethought before that brush ever touches the paper. Are you back down south or still up north? -Kerra

Ooppss. Thats me below, forgot to log in, Congrats again...

Artist Reply: Hey, there, John--thanks! This was quite an event for sure! Having Donna Neary right down the isle from me was, well, aweing. She was the Marine Corps resident artist for over 20 years---covering dozens of magazine covers and many military walls and halls. I couldn't help but grin in awe. I still can't believe they invited me in! doh! :) -Kerra

Congratulations Kerra, you look fabulous. Never downgrade your work you are an amazing artist yourself.

Artist Reply: Hi, there, Seth! (grin) You are so sweet to say so. I'm sure that you've looked at some of your own work and thought, "hummm"--while others go, "wow!" (I do that a lot with just about all of my paintings). I think I'm truly one of those that DO need unbiased opinions or else they would all just sit in my studio with nary a viewer. :) Hope your spring is starting off great! -Kerra

Artist Reply: Hi, Helen! Thanks so much for your feedback on my recent showing. WOW! If I had known how big the event was going to be I probably would have had an anxiety attack beforehand! Ah, ignorance can be a blessing at times....(grin). Hope your spring is starting off great! -Kerra
