A Peak at the Grand Teton

The tallest and most recognizable mountain in the Teton range is Grand Teton itself. This peak is 13,770 feet, the tallest mountain in the Grand Teton park and the second highest in Wyoming. Gannett Peak is the highest Peak in Wyoming, at 13,804 feet. But while the tallest, the most majestic must go to The Grand Teton. To give some sense of height/scale, Mount McKinley or Denali (it's Native Name which translates to The High One) in Alaska is the highest mountain peak in North America, at a height of approximately 20,320 feet (6,194 m) and Mt. Whitney, the tallest mountain in the lower 48 states, rises from the western rim of the Great Basin Desert of California. at an elevation of 14,495 feet. From a distance the Grand Teton Peak sometimes looks like a wolf head howling to the moon. Early French voyageurs gave the name "les Trois Tetons" (the three breasts). One has to remember, these trappers had been out in the wilderness for a LONG time..;)

wow this is wonderful. amazing shot

Artist Reply: Yes, there are those in the past who have compared it to the alps in it's appearance. It is one of the nicest mountain ranges to view. Once you are familiar with the range peaks, it is instantly recognizable the moment one sees it's image in print or in a movie. It is one of the most photographed mountain ranges in the world. The Grand Teton and Yellowstone are my favorite places to be and photograph.
