Artist Reply: Thank you for the critique. You definitely gave it considerable thought, and I appreciate the advice.
However, I contend that the bullet hole is where it should be.
I don't like to qualify, and don't want to over-explain, but think of this as a migratory composition. It (the bullet hole) constitutes a void and may be considered "the event horizon." A sort of transcendence from the earthly plane into the darkness of space. Notice too, the edge of the map divides the piece just left of the "event horizon", yet a bit of life motions outward toward the emptiness.
