Portals of the Soul

The eyes are the windows to the soul. Their hypnotic gaze has launched a 1000 ships from Troy. Made Solomon sing his Song of Songs. And for Ulysses to journey through his greatest perils to return home to Penelope's beauty. A great love adventure can be discovered and begin in just a simple glance. What power there is in these portals of the soul. It's commands cannot be ignored. Such is the splendor of a simple glance. It can pierce through the roughest and most calloused of exteriors to melt the coldest of hearts with a warmth and vitality that would even make Cupid jealous. My oils and brushes have joined with me to explore upon my canvas the wonders that are held within the gaze of beauty. I was transfixed as I proceeded to paint this oil. I began to fall deeply in love with the mysterious vision I beheld. Each stroke of my brush continued to reveal more of this mesmerizing and mystical vision. I fell under it's spell but continued on. I am not sure who this is. I am not even aware of why I chose to paint her. Yet, here she is for all to see. No one can say that it is someone they know. But everyone can know Beauty. And Beauty does, indeed, lie in the eyes of the beholder. So, I leave it to you, the viewer, to tell me who you think this is? visionary imagist "Joey"

Sometimes a mystery can be more appealing. To reveals the mystery means that that all the answers are given and that can be the end of the mystery. There must be always be something to guess. To look in these eyes is seeing what you want to see Let the mystery continue.... it is more exciting this way.

Artist Reply: Gabrielle: I totally agree with allowing the mystery to continue. I find "mystery" to be very appealing and exciting. Thanks.

A real beauty and a great subject to discuss. I was just thinking yesterday about two very special people in my life who's eyes I can never forget because every time I look into them they beam the most stunning rays of light, eyes that smile into my soul, that reach into the darkest and most painful recesses of my soul and even in those long forgotten places there shines light that removes the shadows and brushes away the webs. That light that reflects from them is so bright because it is really not theirs but instead I recognise the love of my Saviour. I could never paint what I see in those eyes, it is too special, too brilliant for paint to capture but instead is etched in my soul and unforgetable. What a wonderful subject you have touched upon my friend and your mysterious beauty which you have painted is stunning

Artist Reply: Tahnja: I always look forward to seeing your name on my screen and reading your words. I am glad that you found my little oil pleasing. Thanks again my friend. I hope all is well with you. Take care.

Joey : to me she is the one whom every one has inside. She is the " Beauty ". The beauty that feels life lively, no one has succeeded by hatred. Without beautiness in our heart life turns down into something very bad. So, beauty does, indeed, lie in the eyes of the beholder. The colors are so well defined and she is very beautiful !! Great artwork my Fren !!

Artist Reply: Mahesh: we think alike. I am glad that you enjoyed my little oil. I do enjoy seeing your work and look forward to our sharing.

A remarkable piece of ART, Joey.Rich and elegant in such sophisticated colour use.Indeed ..."..Beauty does, lie in the eyes of the beholder"..And she is a BEAUTY.Her eyes ,as gems light the night,in a most mysterious way, like your rhetoric question here...It is YOU,Who know who SHE is.Love it..goes fantastically with your words.

joey how intriguing, for some odd reason she puts me in mind of Mary Magdalen, the sinner, the sister of Martha and Lazarus, and the first witness of the resurrection; odd as that may sound, the thought just sorta fixated in my mind. exotic, mysterious, beautiful. all the peace to you. . . . jo
