I've been a collecter of Dell Belew's work for many years. This one, SOMEWHERE OVER, hangs above my desk and behind my computer. Its spiral, almost violent, bursts of violets, blues, yellows, greens, and reds against my blue-gray walls are so infused with energy that I often glance up for inspiration when I'm stuck on a writing or editing project. The painting never fails to remind me that there is always hope, and that I can hew out a way with hard work, even if there is no easy pot of pastel gold. I'm so struck by Dell's interpretations of the mandala that I've used her as a model for a character in my novel.
Congratulations, Dell, on your entire body of work! It is beautifully done and artfully assembled.
Best wishes,
Kathleen Thompson
Artist Reply: Kathleen, so good to hear from you! Thanks so much for all of your kind words and for being my muse on many occasions. You let me know when that novel is on the market---that one for whom I am an inspiration! Ha! Can't wait to see what you've done with me and what poetic license you've taken! Dell
