The eighth day was filled with so many wonderful and varied experiences for both of us. Our first stop was Cimetiere du Pere Lachaise, Pierre Lachaise Cemetery, where the famous and infamous are entombed, the rich along with the not so rich. Our second stop was the Catacombs, twenty meters underground, and three miles of narrow and cavernous hallways that seemed to go on forever, lined with skulls and bones from cemeteries all over Paris. The third place we visited was Tour Montparnasse, the tallest building in all of France. We took the elevator to the 56th floor, where we were graced with the most magnificent 360 degree views of the city, breathtaking and frightening all at the same time! Our final stop for the day were the archaeological crypts at Notre Dame, which reveal the remains of the settlements of the Parisii tribe of the Gauls, the people of Vercingetorix, champion of the Celts.
