Wow Marlene, your work is amazing. Question...do you use mechanical pencils?
Artist Reply: Adrian,
Thank you very much. No, I don't use mechanical pencils, just Derwent Graphic for the graphite and either Derwent Soft Drawing (which the gorilla was done in) or Prismacolor for the color work.
Your work is outstanding and I envy your location for the exotic (to me) animals you have nearby.
Thanks again for noticing my work.
When I look at the eyes of this clever animal I feel sorry for the mankind mercilessly treating the litttle brothers and two-legged representatives of its own origin. Superb work. SASHA
Artist Reply: We're kind of like the smaller, weaker bully that depends on his bigger stronger henchmen (in this case our superior tool development) for our power. This particular gorilla is one of the luckier ones in captivity. The zoo he is at was built from the ground up with the animals in mind. But the walls are still there.... Thank you for commenting.
Outstanding Marlene. I must admit, this one really fooled me. I was sure it was a photo (and I do photography) until I saw the signature in the corner. You're the one the Gods invented colored pencils for.
Artist Reply: Ron, Thank you very much. Coming from a fellow color pencil artist makes it even more appreciated.
what an awesome drawing Marlene, have you checked out the current vote for Artists for Charity here at AW... if not...head over to the forums and see if this is something you might want to involve with . We sure could use your kind of talent.
Artist Reply: Debbie, I'm finally getting around to responding to all the wonderful comments people on this site have made. Thank you for all your positive feedback. I see we share a love of graphite. I am just starting to branch out into color pencil, but it sure is more time consuming!
I agree with anonymous.(below)You are truely up there with the great masters. This drawing took my breath away!!!!!!!!!wow

I'm not a member, so they won't put up my name, but I can't imagine the person's comment below that says "outstanding as a beginner and looks hurried at the bottom." First, he doesn't understand correct grammar, since he used "your" in the place for "you're" and second, he must be nutty. This is an example of true talent and beauty. Everyone isn't a critic - only those who can't measure up. You go Marlene!
Artist Reply: Thanks to everybody who commented in the last few days. I'm really sorry I just don't have time to respond to each of you, but I will be leaving comments on yours as time allows. Really looking forward to retirement to be able to do this full time!
Well I would say your outstanding as a beginner Marlene :) looks alittle hurried toward the bottom though. Animals are my favorite subject and I love the coloring you used in this one. The Gorilla is a fascinating animal sadly a subject of the poachers greed. Welcome to AW...and I will look forward to seeing more of your work.
