' ERNEST HAMLETT, ARNHEM VET '

Ernest Hamlett, went to Arnhem by a Balsa wood glider, with the Border Regt. Involved with some of the fiercest fighting around Westabowen. He ended up captured and ended up at the notorious Stalag 11b Fellingbostal. Also did part of the 1000 mile death march. The zoomed up pic is where I took the original image from, a typical 40's flat b/w photo. Hope I've done the gentleman justice an hope it works

Another great portrait, Kevin!! I think it's great that you are remembering these great heros!! :)

Artist Reply: Thanks Ruth, Off to Arnhem again on the 18th, hopefully get loads more pics of the vets. Sadly all in their 80's, so getting fewer and fewer each year. Will try and get as many as possible this year. More for the project

Hey, Kev! This is SUCH A WONDERFUL and unique style, here. You've definately made it YOUR OWN, and a wonderful likeness. EXCELLENT rendition!!

Artist Reply: Hey Jan.... now you've really made me blush.....Hahaha. Seriously though, I look at your work, and great artists like Greg Jeons, Emily Reed, Cynthia Adams to name but a few. I don't even come anywhere near thier's and your talent. All I can say is that I feel humble and thank you, for your support

special way of drawing Kevin, a little cubistic, love the style!

Artist Reply: Never had any formal training. In fact stopped doing art when I was 15, didn't pick up a pencil again until about 2 years ago,now 50+, so ain't got a clue where I've developed a 'style', just thought I drew what I saw. Thank you for a truly fantastic compliment, means so much to me coming from a true master like yourself
