BATHALA: HEROES OF THE EAST

Some of my old character designs re-drawn and updated. "Bathala" was a comic book series published inside the pages of "Kidlat Komiks" way back in the early 90's in my country. I got the inspiration and idea of the characters you see here from local folklore and myths as well as people's beliefs in talismans, amulets, other creatures of the night. At the time, I thought it would be cool for a change to not do a super hero team with foreigh names and traits which was what I was normally doing back then. "Bathala" in english means god. 11x17 Bristol Paper, pen and ink illustration using artline 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, Pentel Color Brush and Inkjet printer residue for inks. -- I've been experimenting on the printer's inks to see how well it will hold on bristol paper.

I was in high school when i saw your drawings in Kidlat Komiks. This really inspires me to draw. Hope you still have copies of your Bathala cast.
