Soul Ache

This picture of a girl "CUTTING" has been stuck in my head for a while. I've never "CUT" but I have empathy for the young ones out there that do. This is my take on how they see/feel. The Soul Aches How to relieve pain? When sutures don't work and words can't explain Shallow cut releases pressure A perceived control valve A deceived sleight of hand A hidden gash is a treasure A girl takes a knife and cuts herself. For a few moments, she's in control,...in control of her pain. She decides how much how long, and for a few moments the pain on the inside feels less. This is my perception of what "CUTTING" is. (In this sweet sadness) (This glorious madness) (Brings me to my knees) Sarah McLachlan, "Angel" This is a little dark and to be honest I don't expect to many respones. But sometimes you just gotta express yourself............ P.S. this piece is unfinished

Beautiful art work with the accent on a great psychological problem... Like the color you choose for this difficult subject!

I like this picture it is very unique. I seen anything like it. This portrait is very emotional, very moving. I wouldn't have been able to draw something as special as this. If you ask me anyone who doesn't like it need to look in the mirror and say to themselves " I HAVE MENTAL PROBLEMS AND I NEED TO GO TO THERAPY BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE A LIFE". Ha Ha. But really i am serious. Keep the amazing art work up. From your favorite niece Jayd Bryona Thomas A.K.A Monkey Girl

Powerful work Lia, the colour adds to the subject.

Artist Reply: Thank you, and I thought the same thing about the color as well. I had intended it to be Black, white, blue, purple, and grey. But, early on I realized that it was meant to be red, those were the colors that kept creeping out unintentionally.

Very moving.

Artist Reply: Thank you, Joan your comments are much appreciated. I wasn't sure how anyone would respond to this piece. I know it's dark but I think even our darksides should be expressed. Helps get it from the inside to the out. Again thank you

It is quite disturbing, but art doesn't have to be all sweetness and light. I commend you for attempting such a troubling subject. Well done.
