Few months ago,at an annual yearly some kind of health check...my doctor asked me what is my profession...I said an artist and a designer, and the very second question of him was.."Is there RESPECT ?"...I was quite stunned by his question...also knowing that I have about 2 seconds to answer..I answered with a question..- "what do you mean..?.." and he said to me..."I have a lot of respect to artists my wife is doing Ceramics..."... Now...I know the answer for myself and perhaps later I'll add my thoughts as well..But today I wish to ask you the same question...Is it a respect to art and artists, where you live...?...Thanks for viewing and commenting ,have a splendid day! Gorgeous lemon yellow lotus flowers.. look almost edible! Excellent photos. And as for your question my dear friend.. here in the city where I live artist talents are alive and encouraged greatly! We have festivals every year which begin in June and continues through till the end of August.. (to help encourage tourists of course). We see artists from all over the world come here for these festivals. It is outstanding! Of course we see along with the art, we see musicians, theater performance, dancers.. you name it!! It makes for each year a most exciting and enjoyable spring/summer time. And yes art is greatly respected here. {{HUGS}} :o)Thom Roslan 11 May 2007
Respect is earned.....no matter where you are.......Most cities "respect' Art......mainly through their Community Programs. So, I believe here in the Los Angeles area.....We (artists) are very much respected....We have 3 LARGE Art Areas in the L.A. NoHo, Culver City and Downtown L.A. . Viva Los Angeles & California ! ! !BySilent 11 May 2007

Nice shot of a lovely flower Nira... There are quite a number of established artists arounf the area where I live and plenty of good galleries.. I don't ever recall lack of respect being an issue here, so I'd have to say we get our share of respect..:-)Reba McDonald 11 May 2007

Beautiful lotus. I have to answer, I think it must be the same in most places. IT DEPENDS on the viewer's point of view. Some people love it, some people don't, some are jealous, and some people think, "get a job"!! I think, this is the GIFT we were given, and we were INTENDED to use it, no matter WHAT other's think, or what their gifts are, this is OURS, and we NEED to give thanks to GOD 4 giving it to us and show him we appreciate it BY USING IT EXTENSIVELY!! Great ?.jamie winter 11 May 2007

YES dear Nira, there's a lot of respect towards art in the environment (Pennsylvania/ Delaware) were I live. I feel respected at the University of Delaware- the Academy for Lifelong Learning, and the Art Centers by fellow instructors and the students I teach ... and last but certainly not least -I feel tons of respect from my 2 lovely daughters and husband and close friends...so I think I'm blessed. Thanks for posing the question! LOVE YOUR PICTURE BY THE WAY!--
