Seeing scissor-tailed flycatchers in flight is something that you never forget. They are the very definition of grace in motion. A few years after seeing my first I came across something the naturalist John Burroughs had written about birds... "The beautiful vagabonds, endowed with every grace, masters of all climes, and knowing no bounds -- how many human aspirations are realized in their free, holiday-lives -- and how many suggestions to the poet in their flight and song!"; and I immediately thought of scissor-tails.
