REpeated as wasn't logged in. This is so beautiful, the delicacy of your brushwork is wonderful, and the sense of movement this conveys makes one 'see' the swish and fan of his tail. :) Gwen.

Yet another beauty! I'd be in trouble in your gallary because your work makes me want to touch it - it seems very tactile - love it!

Artist Reply: Thanks Pat. I actually encourage people to touch my paintings. They're well protected. Some of my paintings were exhibited for an event for the Blind because of their tactile nature. Regards. Cathy

Tracy L Nicholson 19 May 2007

Wow !!! Cathy, I love all your pieces! I do think this one is my favorite, though. Simply beautiful! And, so positively realistic. I can't believe the images you can create with string. Amazing to me. :)

Artist Reply: Thank you Tracy for your kind comment. I thought it was a lilac I was looking at. Years ago, I had some neighbours who pulled out every single flower, shrub and tree the little old lady before them had lovingly planted, including the most beautiful lilac tree. It overhung our fence and the fragrance was heavenly. I cried when they pulled it out, in full bloom at that. The mentality of some people. Thank goodness there are people like you and I! Cathy

Crystal 05 May 2007

you're work is all really amazing. had you seen this type of mixed media work done somewhere before? it seems like a pretty unique style.

Artist Reply: Hi Crystal. I've never seen anyone who works like me. I look all the time! I was inspired by an american artist called Eva Hesse who sadly died of a brain tumour aged 35. I went to one of her exhibitions in Vienna, Austria and although I did not like her earlier works, she did a few works towards the end of her life that used some string and other materials. It was very abstract and nothing like I do but it suddenly gave me the idea to start mixing my skills. I also make decorative objects for the home and I was at that time just doing normal painting with acrylics. I decided to combine the two and hey presto!

Joyce Hutchinson 05 May 2007

some thing so simple as this peacock feather and your art has turned into some thing special

Artist Reply: Thanks so much Cynthia. It seems you and I have a similar eye!

Marilyn Comparetto 26 Apr 2007

This a really beautiful painting using mixed media! The natural things around up are so cleverly constructed by Mother Nature and often so precise too! To be able to translate this into the language of art is a truly gratifying experience don't you think?

Jean M. Laffitau 25 Apr 2007

Wonderful!!

ANA VALDEZ 24 Apr 2007

very cool. it has a nice smoothness about it. nice!

Artist Reply: Thank you. Strange you should say 'smoothness' because I have used string and it is in fact very textured. Not sure that comes across on a photo but the explanation I think does give it away. You have some beautiful photos. Keep up the good work!

Jessica Courtley-Rose 24 Apr 2007

This is very cool!

Lisa Prentiss 13 Apr 2007

Thank you for helping me figure out prices! I think your work is so unique!!!! Just beautiful...I was shocked at the 3-dimensional aspects of your work when I looked at your slideshow. I read your bio and am so very impressed! It is so interseting how you have brought your childhood into your artwork today....we could all learn from you!

Artist Reply: Thanks for taking the time to look at my site Lisa. You're very kind with your comments but I feel you are a far better artist than I am. I'm very creative, but not necessarily good at drawing or painting. I've had no training and most of the time I feel like I'm swimming around in circles! Going on this site though has shown me that people do seem to appreciate what I do and this has given me more confidence. Thanks for that. I wish you lots of luck, not that you need it.

Rebecca Wadle 12 Apr 2007
