Peripatetic Axiom

24" X 36" Ink on Acetate, black border added in Photoshop. "Peripatetic Axiom" was the axiom of the Peripatetic School of Greek Philosophy established by Aristotle, and coined originally by Aquinas. "Nihil est in intellectu quod non prius in sensu" -Nothing is in the intellect that was not first in the senses. This statement has had a profound impact on this peice. The main focus of this was to describe the single instance where conception, life, and impending death, all collide into one split second which will only ever occur in existance once in an entire lifetime. We learn about our lives through continuous agonizing experience, however I believe we could all benefit from the knowledge of this axiom; That we are all provided with what we need as humans the moment we enter this world.
