Tiger, tiger.

Inspired by the poem "Tiger, tiger burning bright, in the forests of the night" this is in water colour, water colour pencil and pen. All my work is under copyright.

William Blake would have found this tiger at once delicious and confounding, I think. Love the way you worked the face---and other choice parts. It has human feet but the forepaws of a cat. Great piece!

Artist Reply: Many thanks Charles: some time ago I wrote a poem called "CAT"; I could I suppose, have said 'she' instead of "he", but at the time I'd not painted the picture. "CAT" He rests his furry, purry head in kitten comfort on my bed and never dreams of mice at all. In daylight hours he hides his claws to pound my knees with velvet paws and plays with shadows on the wall. He lazes daily by the fire to eat and sleep his main desire until the moonlight fills the skies, then, in the wildness of the night that untamed tiger still burns bright in those green forests of his eyes. Shame about the creases showing up, not sure why the picture is cut on one corner? Like the idea of the tiger lady in the darkness with the leaves, i must say the leaves look very 3D. good piece

Artist Reply: the creases are a bit of a nuisance! The corner isn't cut, I lay a piece of white paper over my signature now on each picture before scanning it in, following some good advice from YKW that I should not show it on uploads.

This is striking! I love it, Gwen.

Artist Reply: Thank you so much John; I'm glad that you like it.

fantastic :)

Artist Reply: Many thanks Leah; this was done by first copying an actual photo, then painting the tiger markings and the background; I did originally have it in a box frame, but they are impossible to photograph, so I took it out of the frame to scan it.
