HAND ON HEART

This is a design that was requested for a fellow artist and her daughter on Atrwanted, i do hope they like it! Painted in cold enamels onto Scottish Caithness slate, the slate has special qualities, rich in shimmering Mica which acts as a natually reflective surface, it also has metallic magnetic particles!

How could anyone not like this fine work of Art. The two lady's are arguing over me in this image. They're saying, 'You can have him'. 'No its ok you can have him'. 'No I insist you saw him first so you can have him'.

Beautiful! I've never painted on slate before... did you use acrylics? This is wonderful!

Artist Reply: Thank you Nora, I used cold enamels, some are transparent to let the Mica in the slate reflect through the colours.

THIS IS AWESOME

your work reminds me of roman days mixed up with a little japan and very modern at the same time. where does your inspiration come from? it is fantastic!

Artist Reply: Thank you Denise, I have been studying the ancient Celts and the Picts(ancient Brits) and their artforms for around 15 yrs now, the UK has a rich source of artforms they left to be recreated in some form, on standing stones, crosses, slab stones and manuscripts. Over the past couple of years have started to compile together a book of my works and own findings of these amasing people, and to help simlify where they came from!

the intracacies of these celtic knots weaving in and out of eachother is just amazing, Cathy. It would drive me NUTS, but you do such beautiful work. Love the glossiness of the enamel and the SLATE is AWESOME! SPECTACULARRRRRR!!

Artist Reply: Thank you so much Janet, very appreciated. The interweaving knotwork does sometimes drive me nuts, they take a lot of working out! Pleased you like it.
